Far North Queensland will welcome teams from across regional Queensland with Cairns announced as hosts of the 2019 Queensland Country Water Polo Championships.

The annual competitio

n will be held at the state of the art Tobruk Memorial Pool from 15 - 17 February 2019 in the Cairns CBD.

Water polo teams from Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Rockhampton, Mackay and Townsville will descend upon Cairns to battle it out for pool supremacy. Athletes will also be showcasing their talent towards selectors of the Queensland Country side, who won the national championship earlier this year.

"Hosting this tournament is a real coup for our young organisation on the eve of our first birthday" said Jesse O'Hara, President, Cairns Water Polo. "We have built a really good core group of players and volunteers and we are keen to showcase our sport to the local Cairns community and wider water polo community of Queensland."

Cairns is excited about some up and coming local talent as well as showing off some international imports when the tournament rolls around in February.
