Cairns Water Polo has been blessed in recent months with an important boost from the Queensland Sport and Recreation body by awarding the club a "Get Going Clubs" grant to purchase new equipment.
What is Get Going Clubs?
Get Going Clubs is one of the funding programs that comprise the Queensland Government’s Get in the Game initiative to support sport and active recreation at the grassroots level. Get Going Clubs provides funding to support not-forprofit local sport and recreation organisations to create and provide access to participation opportunities for Queenslanders.
How did Cairns Water Polo use this grant?
Inflatable field and goals
We first purchased a portable water polo field which was used to host our Crater Lake Series events at Lake Eacham and Barrine. These events were a huge success, bringing our sport to the wider region. Check out the videos below!

State of the art digital scoreboard
In February Cairns Water Polo hosted the Queensland Country Water Polo Championships at Tobruk Pool in Cairns. The huge, state wide event would not have been possible without our newly funded scoreboard. This piece of equipment has also been amazing for our local regional competition which has used the scoreboard every week, increasing the standard of our league dramatically.
